Seacoast Newspapers to Eliminate "OUR TIMES"

ACTION ALERT

SEACOAST NEWSPAPERS TO ELIMINATE "OUR TIMES"

Seacoast NOW received a note today indicating that Seacoast Newspapers has evaluated its existing special sections, and has decided to eliminate Our Time, A Magazine About Women. Our Times is the only Seacoast news magazine written for and about women. The word is that the December issue will be the last. Gina Carbone, the special sections editor, will be taking over as editor for the last 2 issues, November and December.

Our Times has been an important voice and resource for women in the New Hampshire Seacoast Community. When newspapers often relegate stereotypical stories about clothes and chores to their so-called Women's sections, Our Times brought to the community stories about real women and real issues that impact women in our own community. With the decision to eliminate this special magazine, one is forced to wonder why women must once again face the lack of value given them, their work and their place in society.

You can visit the Our Times web site to read articles from the September issue.
