Bridge the Gap in Health Care
Saturday, June 19, 2004
10:00 AM
Memorial Bridge/ Prescott Park
Portsmouth, NH 03801
Event Description:
More than 125,000 New Hampshire and 144,000 Maine residents – have no health care. On June 19th, join us as we call attention to the health care crisis by focusing on the experiences of people fighting to preserve their health benefits or struggling to gain them. Granite Staters and Maine residents – working families, local leaders, health care workers, small business owners, seniors, students and others – will walk across the Memorial Bridge to “bridge the gap” in health care. Attendees should park at the Portsmouth Transit Center Park & Ride facility at Pease Tradeport off I-95 NH Exit 3 where shuttle busses will take them to the John Paul Jones Park on the Kittery, Maine side of the Bridge. Shuttles will start running at 10 AM. We’ll kick off the day with a short rally at John Paul Jones Park in Kittery at 11:00 am, followed by the Memorial Bridge Walk ending at Market Square in Portsmouth. Total length of the walk is just over 1 mile.
From the Golden Gate Bridge to the Brooklyn Bridge, we are taking to the streets to send the message that every man, woman and child in America must have quality, affordable health care we can all count on.
